About Us

"The Ninth Wave Clothing Company was first conceived over thirty years ago and was set up by myself and my good friend Rachel after finishing university. We travelled around India sourcing fabrics and meeting suppliers. When we returned home to Wales, we worked from a small workshop in Mumbles, making clothes and selling to shops around the UK. The business ran for four years before we went our separate ways to pursue other career interests. A few years later under the same label I designed a range of fleeces and sold them to shops around the country.

After five years of working with fleece, family commitments and a change in the market led me in a different direction. Four children and eleven years working in the public sector, a difficult time in work and an urge to return to a more creative way of life led to me leaving my job and beginning to source fabrics and design patterns again. I was considering a change of brand and/or logo but this was taken off the table when my son and his friend came home from Reading festival with the Ninth Wave logo tattooed on their legs. I'm delighted to be back making and selling under this label."

What's the Ninth Wave now?

The Ninth Wave Clothing Company concentrates on creating simple, ageless and timeless styles in good fabrics you won't tire of. We use a mix of deadstock, sustainably produced, organic and fabrics with a recycled content. All packaging and labelling is kept to a minimum and is recycled and biodegradable. The garments are inspired by a love of fabrics, colours and simple but stylish designs. The clothes are made to order or produced in small batch runs. This is a small business and this is slow fashion. The made to order side of the website is a work in progress and will go live in the near future. In the meantime, please take a look through @ninthwaveclothing on instagram to see examples of what can be ordered.
